Week of March 4 - 8

KINDERGARTEN

The children have been extremely busy learning their "popcorn" words and most of them have remembered all of their letter sounds. They have been making sentences with the words that they know and are getting excited that they not only can write sentences, but that they can read someone elses sentences. What EXCITEMENT!

1st GRADE PUSH-IN
These children are still busy learning new "sight" words. One of their favorite word games is SOCCER. They also have been using Play Dough to make the words they are having difficulty remembering.

1st GRADE LLI
The children have been recognizing and using digraphs. These are clusters of two letters that make one sound. Your child brings home a book to read on most days. See how proud these children are getting with their reading skills.

2nd GRADE PUSH-IN

Being a brother or sister is our topic of the week. We will also be working on vowel pairs  oa, and ow.

2nd GRADE LLI

We are busy making contractions. Many of the books that we have been reading are non- fiction and have some very interesting information. Your child has become very excited with how well he can read. Have him read to you as many evenings as you can. Your child brings home a new book to read almost every evening.

Week of December 10 - 14

One of our little CUTIES asked me if I saw an elf  running around school. The excitement has begun.

KINDERGARTEN

The children have been very busy identifying popcorn words and letter sounds.  One of their favorite letter games is A B Seas.

1st GRADE PUSH-IN

These children have been busy learning new ''sight'' words.  They enjoyed the dinosaur "digging for words" game and had fun learning new words.

1st GRADE GATE

The children have been working on the vowel u in our story "The Bug Hunt".  They have been getting very good at rhyming words.

2nd GRADE PUSH-IN

These children are working on persuasive writing and will be writing about what they really want for Christmas. These stories should be very interesting.

2nd GRADE LLI

We have been busy adding er and est to words along with reading some very interesting books.

Week of October 22 - 26

Our kindergarten children have been practicing their popcorn words and doing many letter sounds. They are off to a good start.

Our first grade children are practicing sight words and they are anxious to read everything that is presented to them.

Second grade children are reading many books about bugs, road builders and "Ghosts in the House" (especially for spooky story day.)

 Have fun reading to your child and having them read to you!

Week of October 1, -October 5

We had an exciting week. All of the children needing intervention have met with us and we are off to a good start.

Week of September 16 - 20

All of our children needing additional assistance in reading and math have been scheduled to meet in small groups with an interventionist. These groups will begin on Monday, September 24th. Our fun will be starting.
